Hey guys, it's been a damn long time. Look, I even had short hair the last time I wrote here.

But, here we go again, I'm back from touring much of the world with Jamie. I've been to pretty much every damn country, with each, a story to tell. Maybe at some point I'll get around to telling it, but today, I'm a bit sleepy, and I have this monstrous headache.

I've been at home recording music and turning left and right with ideas. It's hard to tell what I like and don't like anymore. It's all a bit confusing, this whole creative process thing. I have no idea what I want to do with the music that I've been making. So for now, I've decided to make it available for free-to-download. So enjoy, for as long as you can.

Coming home, after all

The boys and I are sitting in comfy leather chairs at our gate in Brussels INT'L Airport, a bittersweet affair. Though we're running on about 2 hours of sleep, we've got nothing but electrified patriot blood surging through our veins. We've grown fully accustomed to life as Euro Travelers.

This is Guillermo and I engaging in some social boundary experimentation.

We're tired, but totally stoked to be flying home after this little 6 week stint. Yesterday's show at Latitude Festival in the UK was pretty sweet, I met Brian LeBarton, Beck's keysmaster, and my friend Ed from GrizBear was standing side stage.

Look at that. What a damn sweet way to leave things off for 10 days of some serious rest. Short and sweet, our set was 35 minutes. I even saw Charlotte Gainsbourg walking around for a hot second, one of her femme-bandmates told me where to get the dope tights she was rocking -- I gotta come up with some serious stage outfits. I was too intimidated to go up and give my fan props to CharGain, she's just too epic right now.

We played a show last night to a warming crowd in Lisbon. I've never been to Portugal before, nor have I been to pretty much any of the Iberian peninsula. I'm sitting right now and having some breakfast with the boys, we're gearing up for a monster 48 hour day of travel, performance, more travel, and broken ounces of sleep.

Here's Jimmy. He's Belgian. He's the man. He knows how to live.

I'll be back in the city Monday afternoon, killing it, doing all sorts of damn things. So stoked! Don't you know it! My phone is lost so anybody who needs to contact me, uh, wait till that night because I'll be on the case at the phone store.

My boy Kevin Patrick Gannon, from The Journey and Broke Toe Productions will be waiting for me on the tarmac, waving his little red batons. I wish something like that could happen, but thanks to AMERICA, a joke could never escalate to that level of 'security' risk. Well warranted, cause he's DANGEROUSSSSSSSSSSS.

Travelling the world is a funny thing. It's a serious thing. It's seriously funny. It's lonesome, exhausting, stupefying, and everything I've wanted to do since my high school band. I'm at London Heathrow airport right now, wearing my sunnies, not appreciating the neon light very much.

The end of this 6 week leg of the European festival tour is almost over, and summer approaches. Summer as in -- no airplanes, buses, trains, layovers, festival shower stalls and wristband passes.

The crazy thing about touring, is that because of your heightened attention for keeping your shit in order, you begin to get what I call, "professional's luck."

Professional's luck is when, you are so attentive and thorough about doing what you do, that you begin to achieve the opposite effect -- which for me, means losing a lot of my valuable gadgets. Now, anybody who knows me, knows that I love my gadgets. And so far, I've lost my Pentax AND my BlackBerry. I expect to lose many more. To combat this strange effect, I am testing out a new kind of carelessness -- known simply as :

Chill the fuck out, and use your shit so much that it would be unusual for you not to be conscious of it.

Of course, there are flukes, and accidents like leaving your phone onstage during your show, only to find it is gone after the risers have been carted offstage by the stage hands.

Lesson learned.

As far as traveling goes, you need to learn how to entertain yourself within your kinesphere (word I acquired in middle school dance class). This can include staring into some form of LCD screen, page of a book, or the eyes of people walking by. I thought that this trip would be full of insane amounts of idle time in transit. I was right -- so along with me came my Murakami, PSP, MacBook Pro, iPod Classic, and iPod nano. With these, you have your instruments of success in the bottomless pit that is the line that gets you where you are going, whether or not you want to go there.

Here we go, let's break this mother back in. I have my last 6 hours (of sleep ideally) in London, before I head off to Lisbon, with the band (which I still haven't explained to you) to play a huge festival. I figured, that now would be a great time to start this bitch back up.

Long story short is, that I have been on tour for the last couple of months with this gentleman right here, playing guitar, keyboards, synthesizers, an audiophile DREAM:

We're out promoting his new mega-amazing-super-tasty record, Compass -- which by the way is in stores, everybody should be using iTunes music store by now -- even I am.

Yeah. It's been really crazy. Really, any experience unlike any other, not that I have experiences that have been like any other, but wait, on a more modest tip, haven't we all?

We just played a crazy crazy show in Belgium, at Rock Werchter -- where we played with Mint Condition, Larry *fucking* Graham, and oh yes dare I say it, dare I, holy fuck is he kidding?!!?! ?!

PRINCE ?!?! ?! ?!?!

Yes, that's also the truth.

I braved the slush to go see Leia Jospe and Caitlin McMullen's Pop Up shop in Greenpoint tonight. I grabbed my trusty friend Max and we arrived with vigor. He was surprised to find a photograph of himself stuck to the wall among other beautiful prints, not of himself, but of barns and people that I may have seen in this lifetime.

Within minutes of leaving the slushy mire, I came back to a world transformed. The wind ripped my umbrella apart as I struggled to walk all but a few blocks to the Bedford Ave train station. It was an epic performance. I snapped a few photos on the way home of Tompkins Square. Can't wait to see what it all looks like tomorrow, maybe I'll do a little before and after action for you guys soon, but unless you live somewhere else, you probably won't be needing one.

It's been the longest time since I've blogged about anything. I mean, when everything seems to start happening, bad bloggers have no way to get things together and start writing about the world around them -- It all just keeps moving. Between school, modeling, East Village Radio, and my night at Elsa, thinking about blogging is a headache. Regardless, I think that this is something I should never give up, it's essential in this day and age.
Fashion week is over! WOOO, I'm sorry fashion people, but I'm over it right now.

Last night, I played a show at Trash bar with my old friends from the good ol' Bones Royal. This particular group is called ADORN THE WICKED. It was nice to stand on stage again with them. The spot I stood in had a drip. As I raged the audience with power chords and crazy guitar skillz, I was perpetually being dripped on. I couldn't stop laughing the whole show. Miles, the drummer, was getting sick so he really was the trooper out of the lot. Shane and I watched each other's hands, anticipating the next chord -- We only had 2 days of rehearsal. Greg stood on the opposite side of the stage, whipping about. I wish I took pictures but when you're involved and really playing, the documenting can't be up to the artist. Or maybe that attitude is what got me into this blog-less trouble.

My promise to you folks is this -- I WILL blog. I WILL write. I WILL report. I WILL photograph. I WILL let you live vicariously this time. I WILL live.

I've finally decided, after being asked quite a number of times in my lifetime, WHAT is my favorite album. I love all kinds of music and for me, nothing is worse than having to choose one out of the pile. One that seems to transcend all the style, incorporate New York, coolness, fluidity, brooding emotion, joy, and once again, New York, is this --

if you still haven't understood, it's Miles Davis' Miles Ahead, a studio album he did in1957 with the help of Gil Evans. If you're a real New Yorker (I guess I could be after twenty years, so maybe you could be too someday...) this album will really remind you what this city is about and how it still could feel. Give it some time and attention, and this little ditty will be worth your while.

Sometimes I really wish I could drop one of the tunes in during a DJ set. Someday, people will get it. Here's just a taste of what you've been missing.

We went to Webster Hall where the Semi Precious Weapons (the Bones played a few shows with them back in the day, it was funny to see this happening) were shooting a music video.

Yesterday I spent the day sitting in this awesome bus waiting to do a shoot for some Tommy Hillfiger something or other. They had me wearing some interesting stuff. One of the hoodies could be zipped all the way up, pretty funny.

Met a few cool people too, this is Lyle. Good kid -- sorry ladies, he's a married man.

The real icing on the cake was, afterwards I ran to Elsa to DJ a birthday party. The people were really nice and just good folks all around.

I can't believe life's so complex

Last night I went and visited my boys Maximum, Andy, and Mikey at the Hotel Delmano.

They were in top form, just look at them. Come by there and say hey, or that you read about them on The Peach Prince, or that you know Ludwig (which could very possibly just be bullshit, but hey, it's a doggy dogg world and you gotta do what you gotta do).

Lane, from Happy Medium (East Village Radio) was spinning up a R&B storm on the 5s & 6s. I heard some covers of Rocky Racoon and Aquas de Marco -- really exquisite taste this one has.

The sconce on the ceiling was beautiful.

I'd also like to mention how awesome Stella (NEWS) is. Honestly, the coolest woman in the fashion world. (DONT MIND THAT ON MY SCREEN THERES A PICTURE OF ME. ITS NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE I SWEARZ).

For all the folks who run around at night, Tonight I'll be doing/DJing a private party at ELSA. Swing through on a jungle vine and have some wine. It'll be fine.

LATELY, I have been hearing the word --- ECLECTIC ---

From time to time, I get asked what kind of music I spin. I get the jitters. The cold sweats. The diddly-dee-dah's -- I never know what to say.
One week, I might like Charlotte Gainsbourg, but the next I'm really into Mahler. Or maybe I want to throw in some West Side Story music. I mean, people, sometimes if I'm in the mood to just go all out and play strictly party music, I'll do that. But it always depends. There should never be just ONE type of thing you do.
The word eclectic just destroys the power of being able to express yourself in many fashions. I get it. There are people who conciously think, "I want to reference the 70s," or "damn, I love ONLY old school hip hop." Let's get real. Every genre of music is great. But you can get desensitized to almost anything after about five minutes, or -- That shit gets boring after not too long. Sometimes no music is better than any at all.
In fact, the best thing to do before having any sort of performance is to be in complete silence, OR, listen to music/do something that is going to be, almost, contrary to what you'll be doing.

It helps take the load off.
On another note, last night, I got to go to the Gershwin Hotel to check out the Organization of the Outside Eye. Whatta place, ey? That was pretty sweet, Greg -- you little PYT.

Thursday night I'll be DJing at ELSA. All are velcome. Muahaha.

It's my grandpa's birthday. Let's all wish him a good one.

I gotta say. Last night, I felt a little stressed out about people not showing up. But boy oh boy. It's funny how I end up never taking any pictures of the parties ever. I never thought party pictures were very interesting. It's way more interesting to just be there enjoying time with everybody, in that very moment. I had people of all stripe come to Elsa. It feels like a flower that is slowly blossoming. It is only January. I can only imagine what will be going on in the Spring time.

Only four hours of sleep later, I'm back to the real world.

I find myself up early at "The News" showroom on Broadway on a job. The place is vast and littered with rails of the latest designer clothing. People talking about bags, shirts, necklaces, where I should put my coat -- seriously, oodles of fun.

I am so tired. And not from hard work. I think if I even got another hour of sleep in I'd be in top form. Steely Dan, 'Only a Fool Would Say That' plays in the background here -- not such a bad place to be at this hour. Tonight I'll be at Elsa doin the tunes, I hope to see you there. I'm excited to shake off these morning blues and shift on over to the night.

1. This new years has really been quite bananas. Instead of recording the next episode of Kevin Gannon Radio, I ended up deejaying a party in my neighborhood at this swank spot called Elsa. No big deal. I had a good time. My friend Max just kept making these killer Fizzy Houston/Jermaine/Delicious drinks, it really made the night quite enjoyable. One of the best new years that I've ever had/lead. There's not much to write about though, I'm just super stoked that I was invited to do that on such an important night of partying.

2. I got my grades back for this semester. I haven't ever had an A (well yes, there were a couple in my elective High School classes) before. I got three A's this semester. Not bragging, but hey, it was all me, baby. Go to school people -- there's no such thing as, "I'm not a school person," BULLSHIT.

3. You were not meant to be born in another decade. Especially not the 70's. You wanna know why? Because -- People really thought that being in a religious cult was awesome. They all had beards and armpit hair (Williamsburg inpiration #1). Can you imagine how terrible it would be to lose all autonomy and connection with the ever adapting/progressing culture? I can, and it would SUCK. So the next time you hear Led Zeppelin and have a moment where you think, "Man, I really was mean to be born in wood-panelled shack in the desert in 1969" -- Give it one more thought, and hopefully after this thought, you will have reconsidered this horrible claim you put forth. Take it easy, 2010 is gonna be just as bad one day. We'll hear from all the youngin's how they wished they could've been around for the 2008 Election, to have seen our primitive MacBook/iPhone/Blackberries, or to have seen Grizzly Bear in their 'prime'.

The world will effectively be over when Google is able to send REAL spiders into the world to "crawl" our daily activities. They will be able to record our every movement, location, our words, or up-to-date outfit of the day. Oh, what's Kevin wearing today? Where is he? Simple, Google. Earth will no longer be called Earth. It will be called, Google.

Folks, my point is, we might as well get used to the thought of becoming objects of public domain. I think it's not as bad as it seems. Sure, we're subject to scrutiny by anybody who's willing to sit down in front of their computer and search us, but, wouldn't it be nice to do that yourself? No more pesky college reunions, where-are-they-nows, is the cable guy actually fixing the wiring downstairs? or is he calling up his bro and making breakfast plans? Orwellian or not, it will be an age-old, enduring question. It's time we all come up with our own theory.

WAIT A MINUTE, I think that it might still be illegal. Too bad. Maybe we should move to...... CHINA? The land of "great economic opportunity"? I giggle when I hear this. The patriot in me could never believe such a thing.

The button on my trackpad is making a terrible click noise every time it's pressed. The entire keyboard of my blackberry seems to be doing the very same -- and there's nothing I can do about it.

I'd like to point you guys in the direction of this awesome architect Andrew Berman -- look at the first house entitled, The Writing House - (Kevin) this would be so dope to chill in!

This is absolute candy to my writing tendencies. I know I'm being a bit simple, but I wouldn't mind walking through that tiny door and making my way to the back, setting my laptop down on that dope table, and cranking out a few blog posts. That my friends, is the dream.

It's an official SNOW DAY here in NYC. The winds are whipping, and the frost is nipping at my Russian nose. I'm gonna try to love the snow this year. Every other year the snow has been such a nuisance -- I wish it would melt fast, or remain powdery and romantic as the first hours it spends on earth.

What a dream land in the night lights. The orange glowing of the white mounds that were once ugly cars that had something to do with alternate side rules and stinky exhaust fumes. The muffled sounds of the street bouncing off the buildings. The absence of the idiots who get drunk at the Irish pub down the street. No more anxious clip-clopping of high heels at 3 in the morning. SNOW!

And now for a less dreamy segway, I've noticed that the advertising on my blog has been generally related to what I write about. For example, if I'm writing about snow or bad weather, chances are that the adverts will probably be about plows, salt, and the weather underground.
Today's advertisement was extremely left field.

Curled Up Christmas Week Pre-Gaming

I just got off the phone with Kevin Gannon, and boy does he have stories to tell. The snow out in Chicago hasn't bombed the infrastructure like it will here in T-minus -- 2 hours. It actually already started. I can already see the little flurries making their way from the sky and sticking to the ground for the first time in about a year. The last time I saw snow was in Paris, when I went away to do fashion week.
NOTHING beats this kind of a day than spending it curled up in bed with Silvia. She's back from filming a crazy special for VH1, and she's beat. After some Christmas perogi's from Veselka and some hot Borscht, things are looking up. Now I'll just keep an eye out the window for that snow.
SHIT, my hunter boots are on 2nd street. CHILL, now we're really stuck here.
Until more exciting things develop, I'll just watch this video -- maybe you should too. Hmm.

Dr. Errthing'll Be Alright

Well it's one of those uneventful NY days that can only be had by somebody who's lived in NYC for too long. I thought about maybe going to the MoMA after studying for my last final but I decided against it. The semester is done on Monday -- such great news. I was sitting in Piada (studying and school talking with friends on the phone and comp) when Dr. Dave walked in. Glory, Hallelujah! I got the TB shot I had long been waiting for. Now I can go to my school's gym and become the muscle man I've always wanted to be.
Watch out Silly! You say you don't like that, but I can't hear you anymore!

In other news, last night, Daniel returned to the fish stream that my little group of friends is. He showed up in the thinnest jacket known to man, when outside, it was seriously ass-chilling-freezing-cold weather. We had a nice wintertime chat about school and such trivialities. He's a free man now. A fish that is back to the pond! Don't worry Daniel, we've all got your number.

Kevin, Sauce, and a few more will be joining us shortly. Hopefully we'll all be recording the Christmas/New Years Kevin Gannon Radio Special next week. We have a lot to say and play, so please stay tuned.

It's a cold day here in Philadelphia and I'm drinking a, (dare i say?) black Americano, with my laptop on lap, studying for finals. I gotta say, it's a lot more productive than being holed up at some desk/library. This to me is like being the quintessential scenester -- "Yeah! People are looking at me thinking, 'Who uses a laptop at a hotel lounge?', but little do they know, I'm actually using my time to study while they're just having a not-so-productive, early-afternoon chat." I was recently invited to this thing called Google Waves. I watched an entire 80 minute demonstration of the "tool." I thought, "geez, this is definitely revolutionary, I must have it." Oh, by the way, this all started yesterday after I downloaded Google Chrome and was thoroughly excited about how it was SO MUCH (in retrospect not so much) FASTER than Safari. I had become a Google-ite in little more than a minute. I knew something cool was starting to happen with this whole "google" thing, I mean, that little pop up that asked me if I wanted a free download totally made my day, and most of this one. I felt as if I were enriched by some super-nerd-force and needed to preach the religion.

Well, now that I have this "revolutionary" "Wave," I have absolutely NO idea what to do with it. I sent out invitations to good friends hoping to get a community going -- nope, its slow living up here on Google Wave Mountain. This is just like getting a new computer. Beforehand you think, "A new computer will really improve my life right now, I just can't even imagine all the things I'll be able to do with it, I mean, the resolution is going to be insane!" but when your muffin crumbs are clogging up the keyboard days after taking your new Mac home, things aren't as different as they were a few days ago.

I can't wait to sit around, edit, chat, use hip short keystroke commands, and be part of a burgeoning digital cult.

I've hardly had a minute to sit down and write you folks a blog post. Life has kinda been split between work and school, Finals Week is rolling in like the tide does after a three month storm (that's what it does right?). Its been hard to keep the cash up without compromising the edumacation.

I've opted for prioritizing the latter recently. The semester is coming to a close and its gonna be one of those rough couple of weeks of book diving. While my boy Kevin prints his new Zine, I'll be editing shows for EVR (and for your listening pleasures).

I stumbled on this dope business site (I know, boring......) that interested me, and I ran into it a day after talking about starting a business while dining at a certain B Bar. With all these financial woes it really seems like it's the way to go. But, I won't tell you my ideas just yet, cause, that probably wouldn't be a great business move (now would it?).

p.s. i wish i could take a picture of the kid who's fallen asleep behind me in class with newspapers strewn across his chest, it's kind of priceless.

I am proud to announce, that you can now google, The Good Omen.

The Good Omen recorded a tune today, except we actually worked on making it sound pretty awesome. We used two microphones sometimes. Sometimes we didn't even use microphones. With technology, you can do anything!! (two thumbs to the sky!)

Check it out on our myspace, it made me real excited to have blazing guitar solos, colorful drum combinations and belching backup vocals again. Feels so good to be back from retirement (seems Jigga aint the only retiree round these parts). This week we'll have some more tunes up.

Happy October everybody, My favorite month. My birthday's in 11 days according to iCal.

It got me thinking.

I never really got into all the functionalities of Apple, most of it is just annoying stuff that you can only imagine some office-space-type of person to use. Yesterday I wondered why I haven't been using it, supposedly its great stuff, you know : Address book, Microsoft Office, iCal.... Well first off, my Microsoft Office doesn't work anymore since I updated to Snow Leopard (Carlos Galarza FTW)

I knew that I've spent my fare share of squandered time thinking, "well, how else can I manage this?" The simplest answer that I thought of was: iCal.

I started to fiddle with the thing and think, ugh, this is lame, who does this, i'm not really going to follow it.

Today my organized day took shape from the get go. I felt guilty that I was an hour past my wake up time and all the things I had planned for had to be an hour later. This is when I realized how we squander our time. Those five, hourlong activities I had planned, were pushed an hour ahead, EACH. This was FIVE total hours at the end of my day, that couldn't be had. So people, use iCal, that shit is doper than it looks, or don't, so I can live out my Machiavellian fantasies.

Well it's that time of the year again. Things start to change, maybe sometimes they don't change at all. This year is a crazy exception to my life's rules + routines. I am making - SO - MUCH - MUSIC. Whether I'm producing somebody, recording my own little demos, or task mastering a band, there is just SO - MUCH - MUSIC - coming out of my direction. It's a new kind of enthusiasm. As if fresh from the cloud cover appeared the stone Jesus from Buenos Aires' skyline.

I'd share with you exactly what I've been doing, but my rules do not permit me to do so. How fun would it be if Quincy Jones started to leak Bad before it came out? I'd say it would have been fine, but from a hype point of view, it would've been pretty lame. If you REALLY know me, just track me down, and I might (will) oblige to show you.

I know this probably only involves me, but I thought I'd share what I've been doing for the last couple of months. Since I got reaccepted into Hunter College, I have been counting down to the day I start school. Right now, we're down to 9 days. Which is thrilling/terrifying. A fine line. I'm scared of not being able to manage everything (work, school, good times). I'll just have to wait and see how it goes. It's going to feel real good to finally start building with bricks again (not literally). I haven't been updating because this is seriously, all that has been going through my mind.

Been trying to get some of those final hangouts in before the big crunch. My boy kPg will be gone come Monday, it's been real good. Anyway, let's not get too hung up on it. It'll be juuuussst fine.

This has happened to me once before, but never as terrifying as this.

Silvia and I were watching some good ol' television, comfortable as ever. When all of a sudden I hear her say, "hey theres a huge bug on your foot," I jumped up from the bed, probably screamed or something, and leaped to the window sill. It was a giant waterbug. Those sons of bitches fly. So New Yorkers, I know that you must feel pretty comfortable right now if you're sitting and reading a blog. Don't be that surprised to find one crawling onto your keyboard with its dangly antennae and jurassic coloring.

There is nothing worse, than having to find a way to obliterate a water bug.

The other time it happened, I was alone at home chilling on my computer - not a care in the world, when this behemoth of a creature came flying through my bedroom window. I watched it destroy the peace in my world as it came soaring in, landing on my bed. They go straight for the bed usually, for shock factor. Shock and Awe, really. Thanks Bush, that's all you were good for. Being a metaphor for these cavalier roaches.

i dont know what compelled this dude to hold this monstrosity, but this is how big these fuckers can get. Beware, have something heavy, and be ready to scoop this twitching asshole into your toilet when the fighting's all over with.

Last night I was called up and asked if I knew of any girl models. I said no, and went in pursuit of finding one. After checking every avenue and alley of my phonebook, I was stumped.

After asking a very enthusiastic photog friend of mine, Kirt Reynolds, he came through with one the very next morning (this morning) with the number of one. EXCELLENT.

Sondre Lerche was doing a shoot with my friends, Crackerfarm, for Under the Radar magazine. I dressed him up in my very own gear, and they got what they wanted. Everything worked out. Bond, James Bond.

Last night, Alex, Alice, a few dozen extras, and I were on the set of the next dopest movie to come out since the last dopest movie came out. We were there for the last two days shooting. Yesterday we shot until our eyeballs popped out at around 3am, in Maspeth QUEENS, in the sketchiest part of town.

The set was in a diner that was used for scenes in the GoodFellas. There were even little crappy photo's of Ray Liota and a few other mobsters inside the vestibule, so the people running the place really had a nack for choosing and creating a great film location.

it's gonna be called

BEWARE THE GONZO

although the credits say nothing of us being in the movie, we are in fact, a very integral part of it.

I can't wait for this to come out, cause I've never been in a movie before. BANG

i got locked out last night because i fell asleep before my buddy Kevin got up and left. I warned him that i was very tired, and he continued to hang out, he left shortly thereafter as I dosed off. I woke up in the morning to get my clothes out of the drier and shut the front door behind me. I came back with my dry clothes only to find the door was locked.

Kevin had activated the little switch that makes the door close behind you so that I would be safe inside the apartment. I didn't know. Kevin is a good guy, but he fails.

STRIKE!

and i'm 130$ broker than i was before the door closed. HELP!

gloomy freakin sunday here in New York City. Kevin Gannon and I have agreed on cooking a nice steak dinner for a group of friends. Today, I really needed some bromance. Friends are great. Especially if they're Kevin Gannon, Carlos Galarza, or Sosuke (dont know your last name brah). These are quality kids. They are sure to bring your life new meaning. I'm excited for our steak dinner. I'm about to go buy some organic veges at Commodities and the boys are going to harvest some steaks in the neighborhood. Nothing like a rainy day.

Funny that Kevin was up at 5 cause I got up at 6 today.

There's something in the air this Saturday morning. With everybody leaving for Jamaica and all, I'm left to rethink how I should spend my time when I'm not working. Sure, it seems so obvious when you're at work: "I AM GOING TO SIT AND READ AND DO RELAXING THINGS BECAUSE STANDING ON MY FEET ALL DAY, I DESERVE IT!"

but really, when you wake up on that morning that you don't have work, suddenly you need fulfillment. Music? Writing? Reading? Biking? Meditation? What relaxing!? Where?

and then by the time you've figured it all out you're strapping on your work boots and slogging off only to return to the same question a week later on your first day off.

I've taken notice that everybody's been returning to my blog and bringing more people with them, thankyou! I run home after work for you guys.

so today, i'll tip it off with a few tracks from Grizzly Bear, a cup of coffee, some pondering, clean my bike off from yesterday's ride in the rain, and then perhaps, an invigorating bike ride around NYC. Gimme a shout if you need me.

an old dream, rehashed

Firstly, i was at some wooded country house area, that definately represented Kevin's country house. In it, his father, was admiring his personal museum collection of broken statues and cracked paintings from Ireland. "Wow that really looks nice!" I said to him. Shortly thereafter he began to sing an Irish song behind me. I turned around.

Next, i was in the yard running around with Kevin and our new rubberband guns with professional sniper scopes that even had digital auto-lock-on in them. AMAZING!!

We were in the grass, Marine-style, aiming at his mother, who was gardening about thirty feet away. Kevin said that she was in a "good mood" today, and that it was completely alright if we shot her in the face.

Kevin asked if he could use my scope with his gun so he could be more accurate (this doesn't actually make sense in real physics, but in dream physics: anything is possible), and after his mom received a stinging rubberband to the face she said, "Ooh! you got me boys!"

Thirdly, Me and Kevin (I can already hear his dad correcting me "KEVIN & I"), had snow-trash-lid sliding things. It was suddenly winter, even though we had just been in the dewy grass. My lid that was shaped like a tear drop and I wanted to show it off. So I slid down the hill we were on and it was great. It was maneuverable. At the bottom of the hill I turned around, and slid UP the hill (again, dream physics). Naked Kevin was so impressed that he belly flopped, and slid down the hill like a seal. This hill was huge! The end of the hill was capped by a sharp kicker ramp and a highway divider. Instead of stopping at the bottom of the hill, Kevin continued to belly-slide right over the kicker ramp and proceeded to catch AIR! (dream physics)

And you know how you usually look over a highway divider and its usually barren forest land, with rocks, and stones, and trees, and dead animals - it was exactly that, and naked Kevin was launching into this. He met the ground really hard, and continued to slide down the hill all the way to the end while i was thinking, "gee i hope he doesnt break his arm like he usually does when he does these kinds of things."

thought I'd bring this little dream back from the graveyard after having another read.

Dj Lil Milky and Show Pony destroyed the club last night, quite literally. I was floored. Thankfully the room was full of party ants and the tunes were as fierce as predicted. They're gonna be doing this party once a month and I plan on mobilizing all of you to come to the next one. (Who knows, i might Dj too...hmmm)

I've asked Dj Lil Milky to make me up a fitting name, she obliged let's just sit tight for that. I came up with Dj Peach Cheese, but I got a bunch of cringing and laughing in response. I was totally serious, oh well.

Today all the party ants have work, so I'll be heading on over to mine in about 20 minutes. If you watched the video below, you'd understand that in doing something you like, you must accept the inevitable loss. Work isn't a loss by any means, but sometimes it feels so.

I woke up this morning, relatively excited. I had jumped out of a dream at a perfectly good place, of which I wanted no more part of. I'm not sure what lead to this part but this is how it ended. The view was of a festival stage, much like one at Summerstage or Lollapalooza. On it, Jamie Lidell and I were dancing back and forth, criss-crossing each other in suits that didn't match (I had a navy suit, and Jamie the herringbone). We both had on bowties. The more we danced the more the crowd seemed to get excited. Back and forth back and forth we kept dancing, I was really impressed with my newfound dancing skillz in my dream so I kept with it. This is the point where I believe that I may have been semi-lucid. I was controlling my dancing, in third person. It was looking good and swell, suddenly Jamie and I went to either side of the stage in what looked like really perfectly timed choreography, when all of a sudden, the old and black Michael Jackson pops up. The crowd cheered wildly. Nothing like this had ever happened before, a dead man, getting a second chance in life returns to the stage. Jamie and I were soon out of focus, and Michael was pumping the crowd with his vicious hand movements, standing in one place. There was a massive screen above the stage showing the new Michael Jackson and Everyone was still cheering. Michael at one point couldn't go on, he needed a cigarette. He motioned offstage for some cigarettes, pressing his fingers against his mouth compulsively and in doing so, unleashed a massive roar of boos from the crowd. I felt sad for him. He had just returned from the grave and he was sending himself back to it. How sad. I suddenly didn't care that he got a second go at the ol' Life!

I was offstage and I gave Jamie a big congratulatory hug, and the dream was done.

She was supposed to do the higher part, but we never got to it. Maybe later, we're supposed to fulfill this promise I made when i first met her that we'd have a side project of music. Last night's Storm

It's not very often that we get storms here in NYC. When we do, it's really magnificent. I wish I lived in Kansas so I could see storms all the time. I love seeing huge blobs of black sky just inching at you with their ferocity. I ran outside yesterday when I heard a deep rumble of thunder. Walking up Avenue B, to the east the heavy clouds had already passed, and to the west there was a very eerie bright grey sky. The lighting in the street always gives me a great cue to what is going to transpire in the next 10 minutes. It felt like something very strange was happening. There was a sort of tension in the streets. Nobody was looking each other in the eye. We were all just looking up and down hoping it hadn't begun raining yet, because when it was going to, it really was going to come down. They were just powering themselves back to their respective homes as was I. Nervously I began to run home, knowing that it was now or never. Sure enough, as I began to inch the key into the door, the big blob opened itself up.

After about an hour, the torrential wind and rain subsided and we stepped outside to get ice cream. Cars were crushed by fallen trees and massive mounds of branches were piled up on the streets. The damage was done. Damn.

done with a long day of work. I set my alarm to 8:30am today, but woke up instead an hour before, so it has been a longish day.

Now I'm kicking back in bed and thinking about my buddy Kevin Gannon (i'm sorry dude, i'll get you the most delicious burger you've ever had to make up for last night).

I set up a last.fm account this morning. I thought it'd be cool to see what I've been listening to lately, though it really has been the same thing over and over again. Maybe this will prompt me to listen to new things (GEEZ LIFE IS HARD ISNT IT?!).

I awaken, to these words. Thank you ladies, for enunciating those words that yanked me right out of slumberland. Giggling outside the window that faces the street. The sparrows are also chirping a little loud today. Fig started to bark at them - I think she doesn't like them. All in all, the world is awake, considerably early.

I saw Bruno late last night with Miles, after work. I heard a lot of mediocre reviews from everybody who's seen it. We got to an empty converted Synagogue with an empty theatre and sat down in our seats with buttered pop corn and oversized soda in hand. Time and time again we were interrupted by those annoying and largely unimportant movie theater commercials that roll and make you shut up (thanks Kevin), only to realize that it was another banal commercial (thanks Kevin) that you didn't need to pay attention to (thanks Kevin).

After the opening scene it was established who in the now partially littered with people theatre liked the movie. The couple in front of us strangely started making out before the movie started. Then one of them stopped paying attention to the movie and looked uncomfortably at his girlfriend after every uncomfortable "Bruno" moment, while she sat engrossed in the satiric experience. He made a bad move bringing her there, I think they would've fared better with some sort of romantic comedy or no movie at all.

I personally loved Bruno. I felt cleansed after watching it. I also felt like the only people in the theatre who were comfortable with laughing hard and loud, were Miles and I.

Sacha Baron Cohen and I share a birthday. That's all I have to say about that.

in other news, Kevin Patrick Gannon has returned from Chicago, which is pretty awesome.

my week with fig

Silvia left for North Carolina earlier this week and left behind her dog, Fig. A chihuahua with a heart of gold

I play with Fig all the time, but this week we've really gotten to know each other. I've known her for about three years now (She's Eight) and if I'm around, she won't go a minute without running after me to get picked up and placed on my lap (like so). It's hard to resist her bulging alien-like beggar eyes when she gallops at you. And then when she's in your lap you can pretty much forget about her cause she'll fall asleep/listen to your murmuring voice like you used to when you slept on your parents laps. She's not so friendly with everybody. She has a two year screening process when it comes to becoming a friend of hers. So far she's open with about 2 people regularly, and a few more from Silvia's family.

Work Week

It's gonna be one of those weeks where you wake up everyday, eat a poptart, go to work, come home, MAYBE eat another pop tart, snuggle the dog, fall asleep. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

On another note, the girls (Alex+Alice) + Dylan and I, will be rehearsing today and doing some preproduction on a few songs. It won't be long before it's put down to the tape reel and we're getting it out to good people like you. I'm real excited, I have high hopes, but for now, let's just let that pop tart slide down and do its thang while I get a glass of milk.

i'm done with my obsession with space, that really, was a gripping few days with the whole apollo 11 thing. it was pretty cool that they aired the whole news broadcast and had it interrupt the show i was watching (about apollo 11). OKAY. THIS CHAPTER IS OVER. DONE. OVER DONE. WELL DONE.

hope you folks are doing alright out there all over the world. New York is a rainy mess and I have work today. Hats off to you hard workers.

UPDATE !!! I'll be starring in a movie that's being filmed this week by the guy that wrote Basketball Diaries (NO SHIT I JUST WATCHED THIS AND WROTE ABOUT IT IN THE LAST POST).

A bunch of old + current highschool friends (including Alex + Alice ((who you all know!))) and Zoe K. are gonna be in it. Totally weird. I don't know any big details, all I know is I'm gonna be a REALLY cool drummer boy.

So 40 Years ago, to the day, to the minute! We (USA FTW) landed on the moon. I wonder what it'd actually feel like, you know? Cause when I go to a foreign country I always think to myself, "wow I'm actually in Paris" or "wow I'm really in Moscow, on the other side of the world" but what would it feel like to be supremely removed?

I think that would be absolutely humbling, to stare back at PLANET earth, and think,

"wow, I just traversed NOTHING/SPACE/DARK MATTER to get here."

apparently it's gonna be one of those "not-so-hot" days here in the city. First time since 3 days ago, really. The only thing that I can write about that's worth mentioning is mixing songs on Pro Tools in bed is my new favorite pastime, besides driving of course (which even though I'm going to New Jersey today, I will not be in the helm of the driving wheel n pedalz).

I was thinking about taking up acting last night as I was watching Basketball Diaries with Silvia. I have a feeling I've got it in me. I mean, I already "model" so why not take it the next "step" and "act"?

today, i went to work and worked. I had a double shot laté at work. so it got me through just fine. upon arrival at my house I nearly collapsed into bed watching the manhattan project documentary on netflix. I fell asleep halfway through and woke up hours later. I, my friends, am officially sick with something. Hope it ain't that good ol' swine flu, but you can never tell, now can ya?

ANYWAY! I discovered that 40 Years ago, today, Apollo 11 Lifted off, bound for the moon. Incredible. I wish i got to be part of that worldwide thrill. People glued to their televisions, skeptics rolled their eyes, and children with dreams being lived in front of their own eyes. It must've been awesome.

To go along with the 40th anniversary of this great feat, the John F. Kennedy museum released this amazing website with the real-time Apollo 11 voyage. This means that from July 16 till July 20th, you can sit down and watch (listen) the journey through mad radio transmissions to its sometimes eerily tranquil sections. Right now we're on stage 6, being slingshot through space via the gravity & orbit of Earth towards the moon. Have fun!
